Over the past six months, many different companies have increasingly announced job cuts. These are currently being implemented in many places, while companies are being reorganized at the same time. The current job cuts are not necessarily due to a lack of employment opportunities. In the course of their reorganizations, companies are looking for new people who can enrich their team and possibly bring other skills to the company.
The unemployment rate - which reached its lowest point last year - is therefore likely to rise again. Our observations in everyday working life show that many of those affected by redundancy are aged 50+. This can be frightening for those affected, as finding a new job after the age of 50 seems difficult or even impossible for the majority of people: retirement age is approaching, non-wage labor costs are rising and there are sometimes prejudices about a lack of flexibility or declining productivity.
It is important to us to counteract these prevailing clichés and general conditions. How do we put this into practice? newplace AG offers outplacements with individual coaching and workshops in order to provide the best possible support for those affected and enable them to reintegrate quickly.
We firmly believe that, in view of the ageing population and the shortage of skilled workers, it is essential to keep older employees in their jobs and reintegrate jobseekers over 50 into working life. Increasing job losses must not change this, and we are working on this together with our service partner focus50plus and are involved in the Loops initiative.
